I was commissioned by 3D Artist Magazine to create a tutorial on digitally reconstructing Raffaele Monti’s Veiled Vestal Virgin sculpture in ZBrush. The tutorial was published in Issue 90. After completing the digital reconstruction, my friend Mohsen Zare and I decided to take things a step further and turn our creation into a physical statue. We used a 4-axis CNC machine to carve the sculpture out of Herat Marble stone and then added the finishing touches through hand sculpting. It was an exciting and rewarding project that brought Monti’s masterpiece to life in a new and tangible way.
